This Privacy Policy describes how Catford Labs (“we”, “us”) handles information in connection with the Locktone application for iPhone (“Locktone” or the “App”).
1. Who is responsible
Controller / developer contact for Locktone privacy questions: support@catfordlabs.com
2. Information we process
Depending on how you use Locktone, the following categories may be processed:
- Local game settings and records (on your device). Best wave / kills / survival, whether the first-lock hint has been shown, haptics and music toggles, and today’s daily best. These live in Apple’s UserDefaults on the device. They are not uploaded to Catford Labs servers.
-
Gameplay (Game Center, Apple) — optional.
If you are signed in to Game Center, the App may submit your wave (and kills as context) to leaderboards
locktone.best_waveand, for a daily run,locktone.daily_wave, and may report achievements (first lock, flare break, carrier kill, wave 5, wave 10). Apple processes this under Apple’s privacy policies. You can stay signed out; the App still plays. - Anonymous usage analytics (TelemetryDeck). The App may send hashed install identifiers and non-identifying product events (for example that a run started, a wave cleared, an upgrade was chosen, a daily started, or a run ended). These signals do not include your name, email, Apple Account name, or a replay of the fight. TelemetryDeck hashes the install identifier on the device and again on its servers.
- Screen recordings you share (ReplayKit, Apple) — optional. If you tap SHARE after a run, Apple’s ReplayKit preview lets you save or send a clip. We do not receive that video. Microphone capture is off.
- Support communications. If you email us, we process the content of your message and your email address to respond.
Locktone does not access the camera, microphone, contacts, location, photos (except what you choose in ReplayKit), Health, or your files. Game controllers are read locally for input only.
3. How we use information
- Remember your best run, daily best, and settings on this device
- Submit scores and achievements when you use Game Center
- Understand anonymous feature usage so we can improve Locktone
- Let you share a clip you recorded, using Apple’s tools
- Respond to support requests and comply with law and platform policies
4. Legal bases (where GDPR / UK GDPR apply)
Where those laws apply, we rely on:
- Contract — to provide the App features you use
- Legitimate interests — to maintain the App and improve it in ways that do not override your rights
- Consent — where you choose Game Center sign-in or ReplayKit sharing
- Legal obligation — where we must keep or disclose information under law
5. Sharing and processors
We do not sell your personal information. We use service providers / platforms that process data on our behalf or as independent controllers:
- Apple Inc. — App Store, Game Center, ReplayKit. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.
- TelemetryDeck GmbH — anonymous product analytics. See TelemetryDeck’s Privacy Policy.
6. Your choices
- Stay signed out of Game Center — scores and achievements will not submit.
- Do not tap SHARE — no ReplayKit clip is created for you to send.
- Delete the App to remove local UserDefaults records on that device.
- Use Game Center settings on the device to manage Apple’s leaderboard identity.
7. Data retention
- Local settings and best-run records remain on your device until you delete them or the App.
- Game Center scores and achievements are retained under Apple’s Game Center policies.
- TelemetryDeck retains anonymous usage signals under TelemetryDeck’s policies.
- Support emails are kept as long as needed to handle your request and our legitimate business records.
8. International transfers
Apple and TelemetryDeck may process data in the United States, the European Union, and other countries. Where required, those companies use appropriate transfer mechanisms described in their privacy documentation.
9. Children
Locktone is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children for our own databases. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us directly by email, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing. For data held only on your device, you can delete the App. For Game Center data, use Apple Account / Game Center controls, or email us at support@catfordlabs.com and we will help where we can. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
11. Security
We use platform security features provided by Apple. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. Please keep your Apple Account and device protected.
12. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective date” at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Locktone after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
